John Jackson

About Digital Designs

A Renaissance man with a passion for challenge and hard work, John’s enterprising spirit showed early when he started his own print shop at age 18.

After selling his business when his family bought Garden Valley Golf Resort north of Tyler, he then worked with his father to develop the property.

In the early ‘80s he designed and built a championship water ski lake at Garden Valley. While operating a water ski school there, he competed as a drag boat racer and professional water skier. Ever industrious, John also found time to build a custom street rod.

Recognizing the coming shift in photography from film to a digital medium, John founded Digital Designs in 1994, answering two callings that have proved to be his true vocations.

Today, clients past and present will attest to his proficiency in photography and graphic design in a digital world.

His dedication to professionalism in photography and graphics is indicated by the quality of his work and his insistence on continuing education via training conferences, web tutorials, books and DVDs.

A 1972 graduate of Robert E. Lee High School in Tyler, John has lived in the Tyler/Lindale area for 57 years.

Married, his wife Amy is a dental hygienist in Tyler. They are parents of two.

Daughter Meghan graduated from All Saints High School where she played basketball. She is now a graduate from Texas A&M and an oil and gas analyst at ViewPoint Bank. Son Chase, who loves to hunt and fish, is a 9th grader at Lindale High School where he plays football for the Eagles.

When not spending time with family and friends, John enjoys golf, go-kart racing and nature photography. Football, basketball and auto racing are his favorite spectator sports.

John Jackson, who founded Digital Designs in 1994, now focuses his camera and graphic design skills on team and event photography.
